【学長メッセージ】令和8年熊本地震および令和８年８月千葉豪雨により被災された皆さまへ/Message to Those Affected by the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake and the August 2026 Chiba Heavy Rains

このたびの「令和8年熊本地震」および「令和8年8月千葉豪雨」により犠牲となられた方々に深く哀悼の意を表しますとともに、被災された皆さま、そのご家族ならびに関係者の皆さまに心よりお見舞い申し上げます。

熊本における大規模な地震被害、ならびに本学の所在する千葉市を含む千葉県内の広範囲で発生した記録的な大雨による浸水被害の報に接し、本学関係者一同、深く心を痛めております。依然として厳しい状況が続く中、被災地において復旧・支援活動にご尽力されている皆様に深く敬意を表します。

また、このたびの災害に限らず、近年の猛暑や異常気象により被害を受け、困難な状況におかれている方も少なくありません。本学としては「防災」への意識を一層高め、今後も自治体や地域の皆様と連携しながら、安全で安心なキャンパスおよび地域環境づくりに尽力してまいります。

本学では、被災地域にゆかりのある在学生とそのご家族の安否確認を行っております。学生の皆さんが安心して学業を継続できるよう、必要な支援につなげてまいります。

今なお多くの方々が不便を感じ不安な日々をお過ごしのことと存じます。被災地域の皆様の安全と一日も早い復旧・復興を心よりお祈り申し上げます。

We extend our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake and the August 2026 Chiba Heavy Rains, and our heartfelt sympathies to all those affected by these disasters, as well as their families and loved ones.

All of us at Kanda University of International Studies are deeply saddened by the extensive damage caused by the major earthquake in Kumamoto and by the record-breaking heavy rains that resulted in widespread flooding across Chiba Prefecture, including Chiba City, where our University is located. We express our profound respect and gratitude to everyone working tirelessly in the affected areas to provide emergency assistance, restore essential services, and support those in need amid the difficult conditions that continue.

Beyond these recent disasters, many people have also been affected by extreme heat and extreme weather events in recent years and continue to face difficult circumstances. The University will further strengthen its commitment to disaster preparedness and continue to work closely with local governments and communities to help create a safe and secure campus and surrounding community.

The University has been working to confirm the safety and well-being of our students with ties to the affected areas and their families. We will continue to connect them with the support they may need so that they can pursue their studies with peace of mind.

We recognize that many people continue to face days of great inconvenience, uncertainty, and anxiety. We sincerely pray for the safety of everyone in the affected areas and for the swift recovery and reconstruction of the communities impacted by these disasters.
