I am from Hakuba Village in Nagano Prefecture, which is known as one of the best tourist destinations in Japan. Due to the recent increase in demand for inbound tourism, I enrolled in the International Tourism Department because I wanted to improve my English conversation skills and work in the local tourism industry. Many of the classes were practical workshops, and my most memorable experience was the presentation of my graduation trip plan. As team leader, I gathered my team members in between classes and planned an aurora observation tour in Finland, Northern Europe. Although we sometimes had conflicting opinions, we learned the importance of respecting each other's opinions and cooperating with each other. Other good memories include training in Taiwan to obtain the "Chief Comprehensive Itinerary Manager" certification and tour operator tour training. All of these classes allowed me to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for the tourism industry while having fun.
My job search focused on the travel, lodging, and railroad industries, and because of my familiarity with trains, which I use every day, I decided to work for the Tokyo Subway, which supports the economy of the capital city of Tokyo. Currently, as a conductor on the Hibiya Line, I am responsible for door operations, responding to abnormal situations, and in-train announcements. I sometimes have the opportunity to explain to foreign tourists how to get to their destinations in English, and I will never forget the joy I felt when they praised me with the words "Nice English! I feel that the English skills I acquired at Kanda Institute of Languages are now being put to good use. I am now studying hard to become a driver, but one day I would like to try my hand at activities that will benefit the tourism industry in Hakuba Village.
