What is University Transfer?

WHAT IS UNIVERSITY TRANSFER?

This system allows graduates of vocational schools to enter the third or second year of a four-year university. Transfer students can enter either public or private universities, and study a variety of fields, including language, economics, business administration, international relations, and social studies. The transfer examination for most universities consists of English, a specialized subject (essay, etc.), and an interview, so you can take the exam with fewer subjects. If you improve your English at Kanda Institute of Languages and prepare well for the transfer examinations, it is not a dream to enter your target university that you have given up on or have taken but did not get a good result, or even a national or public university that you have given up on because you took the liberal arts entrance examination.
Don't compromise on the university you "get in" to, transfer to the university you really "want to get in" to!

A full range of university transfer courses

In addition to regular classes, we offer a number of courses (for a fee) that specialize in preparation for university transfer entrance examinations for each academic discipline or theme.
Thorough support for specialized subjects and essays, which are difficult to prepare for on your own, is provided by different instructors for each academic subject. Students can maintain high motivation by studying with classmates who are working toward the same goals.

By concurrently enrolling in the correspondence course at Jiyugaoka Sanno Junior College, students can obtain both a professional and a junior college degree upon graduation.
This will increase the number of universities to which you can transfer and broaden your career choices. Tuition fees are also more economical than attending a junior college.

By taking the Children's Course in the Correspondence Course of Aichi Sangyo University Junior College of Education, students can qualify to take the national examination for nursery school teachers and become "English-speaking nursery school teachers.

method of taking an examination

• General Transfer Admission

  This is the most common transfer examination and is conducted by many public and private universities. The timing of the examination varies from university to university. Selection is based on English, two specialized subjects (e.g., essay), and an interview.

• Transfer to sister school, Kanda University of International Studies

  On-campus examinations for admission to Kanda University of International Studies and Faculty of Foreign Languages are held twice a year. In addition to English language proficiency, the examination also evaluates the applicant's usual efforts, such as attendance and academic performance. The maximum number of students is 100.

  There are 32 universities and 87 departments throughout Japan that nominate Kanda Institute of Languages as a transfer agreement school. There are a total of approximately 135 recommendation slots available.

Frequently Asked Questions

QWhat are the criteria for transfer to each university?

A TOEIC® score, Japanese essay, interview, attendance, and grades are required for Kanda University of International Studies. However, the year in which you can transfer to universities other than Kanda University of International Studies and the number of credits to be approved differ depending on each university. Please contact each university for details on whether or not they hold transfer examinations and the contents of such examinations.

QCan I transfer to a university other than Kanda University of International Studies?

A Public and private universities nationwide are accepting transfer students. The number of private universities accepting transfer students from technical colleges has also increased to more than half, and at the same time, the number of transfer students is also expanding. If a university accepts junior college graduates or above, the range of universities that accept transfer students can be expanded by using the junior college dual enrollment system (i.e., studying at a junior college while concurrently enrolling in a correspondence course at a vocational college). The Department of International Business Career has a special partnership with the Department of International Liberal Studies in the Faculty of International Liberal Studies at Nanzan University, and the Department of Children's English Education has a special partnership with the Department of Children's Studies in the Faculty of Children's Studies at Seitoku University. Students who take a teaching course at Seitoku University can obtain either an elementary school teaching license (first class) or a kindergarten teaching license (first class). Students who obtain a kindergarten teaching license can also obtain a nursery teacher license at the same time.

QIt seems that many of the students who transfer or enter Kanda University of International Studies from Kanda Gaikokuin through special recommendation come from the English major, but is it disadvantageous if I am not an English major?

A. There is no disadvantage if you are not an English major. The transfer admission system is open to 2nd year students of all departments at Kanda Institute of Languages, while the 1st year special recommendation admission system is open to 1st and 2nd year students of all departments at Kanda Institute of Languages. There is no advantage or disadvantage depending on the department. The University Transfer Course, a preparatory course offered by the University Transfer Center, is open to students from all departments.
