AO Entrance Examination

qualifications of candidacy Applicants must have attended our open campus, listened to the explanation, and have a good understanding of Kanda Institute of Languages, and meet one of the following criteria.
If accepted, the applicant must enroll in the program.
  • A. You are expected to graduate from high school by March 2027 or within one year of graduation.
  • B. Students who are expected to complete 12 years of formal education or within one year after completion of formal education.
  • C. Expected to graduate from an overseas high school by March 2027 or within two years of graduation.

*You must be at least 18 years old at the time of admission. No upper age limit is required as long as the applicant meets the application qualifications.
Applicants may not apply to other schools at the same time.
Foreign nationals must have a valid status of residence. If you have a special activity visa at the time of application, please consult with us before applying.
Those who have a college student visa at the time of application or those who will study at the university with a college student visa during their stay at the university are not eligible to apply.

*Only Global Business Course applicants will be required to have an English interview including an oral examination (online examination is also acceptable) in addition to a Japanese interview. The screening date will be the same as the application period for the designated school recommendation, etc.
*Depending on the results of the document screening, an examination may be required at a date and time designated by the university.

Privileges for AO Exam Applicants

AO applicants who are admitted to the school can take the pre-entrance education program offered by Kanda Institute of Languages (no fee is required).

Entrance Examination with Designated School Recommendation

qualifications of candidacy Applicants must be expected to graduate from a high school designated by the University by March 2027 and meet the recommendation criteria specified by the University.
If accepted, the applicant must enroll in the program.

*You must be at least 18 years old at the time of admission. No upper age limit is required as long as the applicant meets the application requirements.
Applicants may not apply to other schools at the same time.
Foreign nationals must have a valid status of residence. If you have a special activity visa at the time of application, please consult with us before applying.

Entrance Examination for Publicly Offered School Recommendation

  • B. Completion (expected) of 12 years of regular school education.
  • C. Those who have passed (or are expected to pass) the high school equivalency examination administered by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
  • D. Those who have completed (or are expected to complete) the relevant course of study at an overseas educational institution accredited by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
  • *If you are applying to the Graduate School Preparatory Course, you must have graduated from a university or equivalent school.

  1. 1. those who have worked hard in sports, volunteer activities, cultural activities, language study, etc. and can continue to do so after entering the program.
  2. 2. residents of prefectures other than Kanto (Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba, Saitama, Gunma, Tochigi and Ibaraki prefectures excluding islands).
  3. 3. have experience of studying abroad (attending an overseas school after entering elementary school, or having studied or lived abroad for two weeks or more), or have either themselves or their parents who are foreign nationals.

About the general dual enrollment system

Applicants for the 5th through 11th terms of the General Entrance Examination may use the general co-enrollment system with a university or junior college.

*Existing high school graduates can use the general dual application system from the first term.
*It is also possible not to use it.

The general concurrent application system is a system that allows applicants to secure acceptance until March 5, 2027 (Friday) by paying only the admission fee.
Applicants who wish to apply under the general application system must check the appropriate box on the web application site at the time of application.

*Please note that changes cannot be made after the application has been submitted.

Successful applicants will receive an "Application Form for Co-enrollment" along with the enrollment documents. Please fill out the form and submit it to Kanda Institute of Languages by the deadline for enrollment procedures, and pay the 100,000 yen enrollment fee. If you wish to enroll in the school, you must pay the rest of the school expenses by the deadline of the enrollment procedures for applicants under the general application system (March 5, 2027 (Fri.) at the latest) to complete the enrollment procedures. Please note that the admission fee, once paid, is non-refundable.

However, if you are accepted and enroll in our sister school, Kanda University of International Studies, we will refund the entrance fee paid to us. Please contact the Admissions Office by March 5 (Fri.) to receive the refund form. The deadline for submission of the refund documents is Wednesday, March 31. Please note that no refund will be made if the documents are not submitted by the deadline.

Kanda University of International Studies

qualifications of candidacy Applicants must fall into one of the categories A-D and have completed an application to Kanda University of International Studies.
  • A. You are expected to graduate from a high school, college, junior college, or vocational school by March 2027, or you have already graduated from the same educational institution.
  • B. Completion (expected) of 12 years of regular school education.
  • C. Those who have passed (or are expected to pass) the high school equivalency examination administered by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
  • D. Those who have completed (or are expected to complete) the relevant course of study at an overseas educational institution accredited by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

About the Kanda University of International Studies Preference System for Students Applying to Kanda University of International Studies

The Kanda University of International Studies dual-application preferential entrance examination system is a system whereby applicants to Kanda University of International Studies are exempted from the examination fee, do not need to submit any documents, and can secure admission until Friday, March 26, 2027 by paying only the admission fee after being accepted.

*This system is available after the application to Kanda University of International Studies has been completed.
*If you are accepted and enroll in our sister school, Kanda University of International Studies, we will refund the entrance fee paid to our university. Please contact the Admissions Office by March 5 (Friday) (or the enrollment deadline for those who applied after the 13th term) to receive the refund form.
The deadline for submitting the refund form is March 31 (Wed.). Please note that if the documents are not submitted by the deadline, they will not be returned.

Special Entrance Examination for International Students

qualifications of candidacy Students who have a college student visa, a family visa, or a status visa at the time of application and who will be able to study at the university with a college student visa during their stay at the university may apply for all the application periods.
For applicants residing outside of Japan at the time of application, or those residing in Japan on a temporary visitor visa or work visa, the application period is until December 8 (Tue.) for the 7th term.

All of the following must be met. Must be admitted to the school if accepted.
  1. 1 . Must be at least 18 years old and have completed 12 years* of schooling as of April 2, 2027.

    *Please contact us if less than 12 years.
     Applicants to the Graduate School Preparatory Course must have graduated from a university or equivalent.

  2. 2 . Those who can obtain a student visa (status of residence: College Student).
  3. 3 . Any of the following a. b . (Those who have no difficulty in speaking Japanese in class. (Those who have no difficulty in taking classes in Japanese)
    • a. Those who have passed the N1 or N2 level of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, or those who have equivalent Japanese language skills.
    • b. Those who have received or will receive at least one year of Japanese language education by April 2027 at a Japanese language education facility notified by the Minister of Justice.
    • c. Those who have received at least one year of education at a school (excluding kindergartens) stipulated in Article 1 of the School Education Act.
    • *If you are applying to the Graduate School Preparatory Course, only a is required.

  4. 4 . Those who have no problem with class attendance during their time at the university.
    ・If you are enrolled in a Japanese language school or an institution of higher education in Japan at the time of application, your attendance rate per class hour at your current school must be 85% or higher in principle.

    *Please consult with us if you have special circumstances even if it is less than 85%.

  5. 5 . Must have a guarantor who resides in Japan*1 or abroad*2.

1 Japanese nationals or foreign nationals with permanent resident status in Japan.
2 In principle, either parents or relatives. In such a case, the applicant must be able to provide a person who lives in Japan and understands Japanese well as a guarantor. An underwriter is a friend or acquaintance over 18 years old and living in Japan who can be contacted in case of emergency (injury, illness, accident, incident, etc.). Please note that underwriters are not responsible for tuition or other financial obligations.

Proof of ability to pay school expenses: Proof of bank balance (in Japanese yen, or Japanese yen equivalent of 1,000,000 yen or more)

*If your savings are not in Japanese yen, please submit a document issued by a bank that confirms the amount when converted to Japanese yen.
*In principle, if the name of the applicant is not the applicant or guarantor, it is not possible.

Tuition reductions are available for international students or those who are able to study at the university with a college student visa while enrolled at the university (except for the Graduate School Preparatory Course).
Applicants who have graduated from a Japanese language school designated by Kanda Institute of Languages and have a recommendation from the designated school are exempted from the examination fee (except for the Graduate School Preparatory Course).
