Hone your English and Japanese skills to get into a top-tier graduate school.
A Challenge That Turned a Dream Into Reality

I have a strong interest in Japanese history, and after graduating from a university in China, I came to Japan because I wanted to “study more deeply here.” Since I planned to pursue a graduate degree with a major in political science, I felt I needed not only Japanese language skills but also advanced English proficiency to analyze academic literature. That’s when I discovered KIFL, where I could study both English and Japanese. There were many friendly classmates and teachers, and I had opportunities to use Japanese naturally not only in class but also in everyday conversation. Through this consistent practice, my conversational skills improved significantly, and I was able to confidently express my thoughts during my graduate school entrance interviews.
When I first enrolled, I had never even taken the TOEIC® exam, but through the classes—especially the listening section—my skills improved significantly, and I eventually achieved a score of 830. I truly feel that my TOEIC® score was a major asset in expanding my options for graduate school in Japan.
As a result, I was accepted into the Graduate School of Law at Hitotsubashi University and the Graduate School of Political Science at Waseda University. I plan to study the modern history of Japan-China relations in graduate school. In the future, I am considering a career that serves as a bridge between Japan and China, or continuing my studies as a researcher.
At KIFL, the faculty provides exceptionally thorough support, creating an environment where students can take on new challenges with confidence. Interacting with students from various countries and backgrounds has greatly broadened my horizons. It is a school where students can hone not only their language skills but also their ability to think from multiple perspectives and develop an international outlook.
