STUDENT'S
VOICE

What is the unique learning experience at KIFL?

Global Business Course, 1st year
Hayato Ito
Takato High School, Nagano, Japan

In a stimulating all-English environment,
hone your "real English" skills through discussion.

When I went to Taiwan as an exchange student in high school, I was shocked to find that I could not communicate at all in English, which I thought I was good at. Because of this frustration, I sought a school where I could "really learn to speak English," and I decided to enroll in this school because of the large number of foreign faculty members and its long history of educational achievements. I chose the Global Business Course (GB) because I learned that almost all classes are taught in All English. I wanted to be in an environment where I would be thoroughly immersed in English without having to pamper myself.
The actual classes are very international, with only a minority of Japanese students, which is ideal. In class, international students engage in enthusiastic discussions, and at times, they are not afraid to ask questions or express their negative opinions, even to the teachers. It is very stimulating to be surrounded by such "serious attitude toward learning" in my daily life. The class in which I feel I have grown the most is the "Business Meeting" class. Teams work out solutions to problems and give presentations in English, and we have to respond immediately to sharp questions from the instructors. At first, I was often at a loss for words, but after repeated practice, I am now able to confidently express my opinions in English.
I have improved my TOEIC score by 200 points from the time of enrollment to the present, and I feel that I am on the way to achieving my goal of 800 points. Another appeal of KIFL is the opportunity to experience firsthand the diversity of cultures, such as exchanging lunch boxes from different countries with my multinational peers during lunch breaks. After graduation, I would like to further my education to become a person who can be active on the front lines of the global business scene, armed with the advanced language skills I have honed here and the logical thinking skills I have cultivated through discussions.
