Really? は間違いではありません。
しかし、言葉の繰り返しを嫌う英語の会話では、
Really?の連発は避けたいところ。

今回はネイティブが使う、様々な「本当に？」を聞いてみましょう。

Sally: Guess what! I’ve met someone.
Ann: Have you?! Tell me! What’s he like?
Sally: Well…His name is Richard and he’s a lawyer.
Ann: Is he? That’s great!
Sally: And he grew up in France.
Ann: Wow…so he speaks French?
Sally: Oh, fluently.
Ann: Does he? You must be so happy!
Sally: Yeah, but I can’t see him that often.
Ann: Can’t you? How come?
Sally: He’s really busy and travels a lot.

☆ How come? ＝ Why?

分かりましたか？ 下線部は全て「本当に？」と言っているのです。
相手が何を言ったかで、瞬時に変えなければいけない高度なテクですね(笑)。
では今回は練習問題に挑戦です！以下のセリフに対しReally? 以外で
「本当に？」と答えてみて下さい。

Really? も決して間違いではありませんが、
